21st Century Skills and Tools

There are many skills and tools we are using to improve education in Marion County.
Writing Roadmap, Acuity, Fast ForWord, and Edline are some of the programs we are using to help our students improve and learn more than ever before. Mimio's, interactive white boards, responders, palms, and cameras are just a few of the technology tools that we are using to enhance our lessons so that even more learning takes place. Please post how you use any of the items above and feel free to add other tools and programs that you think our beneficial.

PBL and Backwards Design

Project Based Learning and Backwards Design are two ways to enhance your curriculum and teach 21st century skills. The TLI teams have presented information to their schools and at the teachers academy this summer on these 2 topics. They each had to develop a unit using these processes and as they complete them we will be posting them on edline. We will give you that web address as soon as we get the site up an running.
Please post any comments or questions that you may have abou PBL's or Backwards Design. Please share any PBL units that you may have developed.

New CSO's and the DOK's

Beginning this school year we have new Curriculum Standards and Objectives (CSO's) along with each having a certain Depth of Knowledge (DOK). There was a training about the DOK's on December 9, 10, and 11 by Linda McQuillen. She is from the Wisonsin Center for Educational Development and is a member of Norm Webbs team. Teachers from each school attended and will be training the teachers at their school. There will be additional afterschool trainings on the CSO's and DOK's throughout the year.
Please comment on what you are doing to address the CSO's and DOK's at your school. As more trainings are given, information and web sites will be posted that may help you in your endeavors.

RtI

As we continue the endeavor of using RtI in the elementary school and begin to look at how we are going to implement this for the middle school and high school, we thought that it would be a good idea if we as a county had a place to share our ideas and plans. Please post any comments on this blog that you may have concerning RtI and ideas of how you are implementing it at your school.
